TROY, Ala. – Coming off a national runner-up finish at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship and a first-place finish in stroke play at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championship, JD Lamm has been named Troy's head women's golf coach, Athletic Director Kyle George announced Wednesday.
"I am thrilled to have JD Lamm join the Troy Athletics family as our head women's golf coach," George said. "He is a culture builder with a proven track record of success everywhere that he has been. There is no doubt that JD will continue to raise the standard of our historic women's golf program."
Lamm, who just completed his fifth season as head coach of both the men's and women's teams at Wingate, has led both Bulldog programs to historic seasons each of the last three years.
"I am honored and thrilled to be part of the Trojan family," Lamm said. "I'd like to thank Kyle George and Dr. Hawkins for their belief in me and for the opportunity to lead this historic program. My goal is to build a culture centered around work ethic, competitiveness and academic excellence. I believe that the ceiling for this program is extremely high, and I can't wait to get to work. I'm excited to lead a team that the entire Trojan community can be proud of."
Lamm was named the 2026 NCAA Division II Southeast Region Men's Golf Coach of the Year as the Bulldogs captured their first South Atlantic Conference Championship since 2012, advanced through the NCAA South/Southeast Regional and finished as national runner-up at the NCAA Division II Men's Golf Championship.
Wingate posted a 281.90 scoring average, won five tournament titles and recorded six top-three finishes this past season. Lewis Beeden earned first team All-America honors and finished as the nation's No. 2-ranked golfer. The Bulldogs' run at the NCAA Championship included a record-breaking 19-under-par in the final round of stroke play.
Under Lamm's leadership, the Bulldogs' men's program reached the NCAA Championship quarterfinals three straight years, and the Bulldogs' women's team has made consecutive appearances in match play at the NCAA Championship.
The 2026 women's team featured the nation's No. 1-ranked player, Amely Bochaton, who won the NCAA Division II individual title by 13 shots, the first individual title in program history.
Wingate won the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championship by 20 strokes, behind Bochaton's 13-under tally. The Bulldogs finished the season as the South Atlantic Conference Champions and the NCAA South Region Champions.
The men's and women's teams combined for 12 victories in the 2024-25 season, including the women capturing the SAC title. Lamm was named the SAC Coach of the Year on the women's side.
The 2024-25 season was highlighted by both teams having the National Freshman of the Year. On the women's side, Bochaton was named the WGCA National Player and Freshman of the Year, while breaking Wingate and SAC single-season scoring records. She was named a first team All-American, alongside Jess Brown, who posted the second-best scoring average in program history. The two combined to win nine of Wingate's 13 tournaments on the season.
On the men's side, Brandon Skidmore was named the GCAA Phil Mickelson Outstanding Freshman. Skidmore was named a GCAA second team All-American, while Lewis Beeden earned honorable mention accolades.

After graduation, he served on collegiate coaching staffs at Pfeiffer, West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins, while also serving as the assistant golf professional at Old North State Golf Club.
Immediately after graduating from Pfeiffer, Lamm remained at his alma mater for two years as the volunteer assistant coach, while also spending four years at Old North State Club as the assistant professional, where he provided golf swing instruction to members, ran junior golf camps and helped the club run several events, including the ACC Championship.
Lamm was named the head coach at West Virginia Wesleyan College in 2017 and was named the 2018 Mountain East Conference Women's Coach of the Year after securing a pair of wins and four runner-up finishes, including a second-place finish at the MEC Tournament championship.
