Sha Hagiel enters his first season as an assistant coach with the Troy University women's soccer program. Hagiel joins the Trojans coaching staff following a three-year stint at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
In his first season as an assistant with the Sharks, Hagiel guided true freshman Amanda Kopale to become the first goalkeeper in program history to be named second team all-conference. NSU’s defensive unit was ranked at the top of virtually every category in the conference.
Hagiel built a successful track record of developing players and teams at every level he coached. In 2009, his first season as a coach for Monarch High School in Coconut Creek, Fla., Hagiel was instrumental in helping the boy’s varsity program capture their first regional championship. While at Monarch, Hagiel developed goalkeeper Rafael De Jesus into a three-time Sun Sentinel and Miami Herald all-county first team selection. In the 2011 campaign the Knights received national honors being ranked as high as #15 in The ESPN FAB 50 National Soccer Ranking. In 2012 he took over the girls varsity team and helped current Trojan, Robyn-Anne Whittaker, become one of two players to sign a soccer scholarship at a four year university for the first time at Monarch High School.
Hagiel spent six years as a youth coach and goalkeeper director for the soccer academy and training center in Parkland, Fla. As a staff trainer he was responsible for the development of youth players both boys and girls from ages 6-15 and organized camps and clinics. The soccer academy won the 2011 & 2012 US Club Championship.
Hagiel is a United States Soccer Federation ‘B’ licensed coach and has been a member of The National Soccer Coaches Association of America since 2009 holding several diplomas. Hagiel is also a staff coach for Alabama’s Olympic Development program as well as Soccer Plus, an organization led by former world cup winning coach Tony DiCicco.
Hagiel played at Piper High School, where he lettered in football and soccer. As a prep athlete he was named newcomer of the year, BCAA All-Star as well as a Sun Sentinel and Miami Herald all-county performer. Hagiel played collegiately at St. Thomas University located in Miami Fla. Following his collegiate career, Hagiel played in the Premier Developmental League.
Hagiel graduated from St. Thomas University in 2008 with a degree in criminal justice and a minor in education. He is currently working on his master’s degree in sport and fitness management at Troy University.
