Ashley Olvera is in her first season as a graduate assistant coach at Troy in 2014-15. A product of Chanda Rigby’s system at Pensacola State, Olvera is also familiar with the Sun Belt after starting at point guard for two years at Arkansas State.
Olvera most recently played professionally for one season with Elitzur Netanya in Netanya, Israel. Prior to that, she was a standout point guard in the Sun Belt Conference.
In her two seasons at Arkansas State, the McKinney, Texas, native started all 60 games, averaging 8.7 points and 3.7 assists per game. Olvera posted 222 assists in just two seasons, the 14th most in Arkansas State history. She also connected on 67 3-pointers in her career.
Before going to Arkansas State, Olvera played under Rigby at Pensacola State in 2010-11 when she was a second-team All-Panhandle Conference selection. The Pirates posted a 35-1 overall record and advanced to the NJCAA Final Four.
After her high school career at McKinney-Boyd High School, Olvera spent her freshman season at McLennan Community College in Waco, Texas, before transferring to Pensacola State.
Olvera earned her bachelor’s degree from Arkansas State University in 2013. She is currently pursuing a master’s degree in sport and fitness management at Troy.
