Junior (track): Won hammer throw at the University of South Florida Open with a 55.90- meter performance… placed third in hammer throw at Troy’s Coach “O” Invitational, setting a new personal record of 57.79-meters…finished seventh in hammer throw at the Sun Belt Championships.

Prior to Troy
Demetris comes to Troy from UTEP where he had an excellent career at the collegiate level. Elia is the two-time Conference USA outdoor track and field runner-up in the hammer throw. He also is a two-time NCAA West Regional Championship qualifier. Indoor, Demetris placed seventh in the weight throw at the Conference USA Indoor Championships in 2012.
Personal: Full name is Demetris William Elia…Parents are Chris and Adele Elia…Born on October 26, 1994…has two brothers, Petros (27) and Stathis (26), and one sister, Aleni (21)…originally from Cyprus, Greece…studying Kinesiology at Troy.
