In his first season with the Trojans, Williams coached Martins Pildavs, the fifth-ranked javelin thrower in the nation, who went on to earn second team All-American status at the NCAA National Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. Williams’s unit of throwers broke four school records in 2012, as well as the hammer throw record for the Sun Belt Conference. His group of throwers included five qualifiers for the NCAA First Round in Jacksonville, Fla., as well as 13 conference finalists.
Williams came to Troy last season following stints at Bethune-Cookman University and Georgia Southern University. At BCU, Williams was responsible for the throwers and the pole vaulters. During his time with the Wildcats, his pole vaulters broke two conference records and four school records on their way to four conference championships.
At Georgia Southern, Williams was responsible for recruiting, as well as the throwing program. He helped bring in several quality student-athletes to the program, eventually leading to several scorers at the conference meet.
