Torrean Walker begins his first season with Troy after spending time coaching throughout the basketball ranks. Walker comes to the Trojans from Stillman College where he spent time both as a player and coach.
The Tuscaloosa, Ala. native was named the 2011 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Defense Player of the Year his junior year. That season, Walker ranked first in the conference and seventh in all of Division II basketball in blocked shots per game while the Tigers led the SIAC in blocked shots, assists, scoring offense and made 3-pointers per game.
Walker played in 74 games in three seasons for Stillman, starting 48 times. His best season was in 2012-13 when he started all 28 games and averaged nine points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He made 221 field goals over the course of his collegiate career and finished with 549 points. Walker was a force around the rim as he had 157 blocks in his three years, including 77 his junior year.
Prior to Stillman, Walker played for Hillcrest High School where he was a member of the 2007-08 team that went 34-3 on the year, 7-0 in region play and was ranked the third-best team in the state.
Upon his graduation in 2014 from Stillman, Walker went on to coach at his alma mater. He also spent stints coaching Holt High School, Rock Quarry Middle School and numerous youth leagues throughout Alabama.
