OUTLOOK: Will enter a season healthy for the first time since 2005 ... Will serve as the Trojans’ starting free safety.
2007: Returned after redshirting to be an integral part of the Troy defense ... After seeing little, or no, playing time in the first four games (partly due to broken bones in his hand suffered in the Florida game), to be the Trojans leading tackler over the last eight games ... Not surprisingly, Troy’s opponents’ scoring average dropped from 39.75 ppg to 12.6 with Martin’s return to the lineup ... In just eight games, had a team-high nine tackles for loss and forced a team-high six fumbles ... Was Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week for his performance against North Texas (11 tackles, 3 TFL, 2 sacks) ... Was an honorable mention All-Sun Belt selection.
2006: Received medical redshirt after having surgery on both shoulders prior to spring practice.
2005: Finished second on te squad in total tackles despite playing most of the year with two damaged shoulders ... Finished the year with 78 total tackles, including 54 solo stops ... Was credited with five tackles for loss, including one sack ... Forced one fumble during the year and recovered another ... Recorded two interceptions and 11 pass breakups and was credited with one quarterback hurry ... Recorded a season-high 13 tackles, including 10 solo stops, in the game at Louisiana-Lafayette ... Was twice named team defensive player of the week, for his performances against UAB and North Texas ... Had eight tackles against UAB and four PBUs and had six tackles, including a sack, and interception and two PBUs against North Texas ... Had 11 tackles against Louisiana-Monroe.
2004: After starting the season in a reserve and special teams role, worked his way into the starting lineup for the second half of the season ... Saw action in all 12 games, the final seven as the starter at strong safety ... Finished the year fourth on the team in total tackles with 68 ... Recorded seven tackles, including two for loss, against Utah State ... Made his first start against Arkansas State and responded with seven tackles and a blocked kick ... Posted nine tackles in the game at LSU ... Had a career-high 10 tackles against Idaho and made the first two interceptions of his career ... Had four tackles and recorded his third interception of the year in the win over Florida Atlantic ... Was credited with four tackles against UL-Lafayette ... Led the team with a career-high 15 tackles in the season finale against Middle Tennessee ... Had one tackle for loss, forced a fumble and also returned a fumble 11 yards ... PREP: Played three seasons as a free safety and wide receiver at Griffin (Ga.) High School for head coach Steve Devoursney ... Elected team captain as a senior ... Earned first-team All-Area honors and the All-Purpose Player of the Year award from the Griffin Daily News in 2002 ... Recorded three interceptions, returning two for touchdowns as a senior, finishing with 70 tackles and five tackles for loss on defense ... Tallied more than 700 yards rushing on 80 carries as a senior as well, scoring seven touchdowns ... Also caught seven passes for 177 yards in 2002 and led team and region in punt returns ...
