TROY, Ala. - Troy Baseball is back at Riddle-Pace Field bright and early on Wednesday with an 11 a.m. matchup against Florida A&M.
The Trojans had three days off after their series victory over Arkansas State that concluded with a 6-4 win in Saturday's rubber match. In the finale, Troy surged back from down 4-0 with a four-run fifth inning ignited by a two-run Blake Cavill homer before tacking on two runs in the seventh. It was Troy's largest comeback of the season.
In the series, left fielder Drew Nelson, who is scheduled to start on the mound on Wednesday, led Troy with a 6-for-11 weekend at the plate, tacking on two doubles and a triple. Cavill was a key producer with three hits, including his homer, and four walks in the three-game set.
Troy last met Florida A&M on March 25, topping the Rattlers 7-4 on the road. The Trojans tallied 11 hits in the win, with multi–hit performances from Nelson, Cavill, Gavin Schrader and Nolan Book.

Nelly on the Bump
Troy senior Drew Nelson, a member of the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year Award Watch List, makes his third appearance and first start on the mound this season. Nelson went 3-1 for the Trojans last season while making ten appearances and eight starts. At the plate, he recorded just 11 appearances.
Nelson sustained a minor arm injury during a bullpen session over winter break, limiting him to position-player duties throughout Troy's preseason activities. After a productive showing at the plate, he earned a spot in the Trojans' Opening Day lineup and has since capitalized on the opportunity. The Troy native leads the Trojans with a .333 batting average and is tied for the team lead with 10 doubles.
Nelson made his season pitching debut at Alabama State on March 17, striking out two while allowing one run in an inning of work. He faced the Hornets again at home on March 31, recording a strikeout in a scoreless frame.
Back to Being Blake
After a slow start to the season, Troy first baseman and Preseason Sun Belt Player of the Year Blake Cavill has returned to form as of late. Cavill enters midweek action on a team-high 21-game reached base streak, hitting .300 with a .451 on-base percentage during that span. In conference play, Cavill has been one of Troy's most productive hitters, batting .368 with a .489 on-base percentage against Sun Belt opponents.
Series History
Troy leads the all-time series with Florida A&M 39-6. The Trojans are 7-0 against the Rattlers under Skylar Meade, including a 7-4 win earlier this season in Tallahassee on March 25.
