Troy Travels to Montgomery to Take on Alabama State

TROY, Ala. – The Troy softball team plays its ninth of 13 straight road games when it travels to Montgomery, Ala., on Tuesday night to take on Alabama State. The Trojans (15-7) look for their second win over the Hornets (9-16, 3-0 SWAC) after run-ruling them 10-1 in February.
Following a series win over Florida Gulf Coast in Fort Myers, Fla., the Trojans look to keep momentum heading into Sun Belt Conference play this weekend. Troy holds a 30-0 all-time record against Alabama State but was pushed in a 4-0 win in Montgomery last season.

FGCU Recap
After a long road trip to take on the Eagles, the Trojans came out with a series win. Troy played a doubleheader on Saturday, shutting out FGCU 7-0 in game one before falling 3-2 in the second game of the day. In the rubber match, the Trojans overcame a four-run deficit to steal a 5-4 win.
Makaley Boswell had a stellar weekend from the plate, annihilating the go-ahead home run to left field on Sunday and adding a triple to her tally on Saturday. She recorded three hits in Sunday's contest.
From the circle, Ella Cunningham turned in an excellent five innings of work during the shutout, scattering two hits. Savannah Money dealt in relief, appearing in both games on Saturday and holding the Eagles hitless through 3.1 innings of work. In the finale, Emma Banks kept the game close with four scoreless innings out of the pen.
Alabama State Preview
Since the last time Troy played Alabama State, the Hornets have gone 6-7 and are fresh off a sweep of Mississippi Valley State to open conference play. Alabama State also earned wins over Alcorn State, South Carolina State and Tuskegee at the HBCU Softball Classic before dropping five games at a tournament against Oklahoma and Sam Houston State.
Arianna Cox-Cole leads the team with a 1.031 OPS, and Braylin Cook has crushed four homers to pace the Hornets.
