TROY, Ala. - Troy senior Aaron Piasecki was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List on Wednesday.
The award honors the nation's top shortstop and will be presented by the College Baseball Foundation later this year. It is named for former Texas Tech shortstop Brooks Wallace, who played for the Red Raiders from 1977 to 1980. Wallace died of leukemia at the age of 27.
"AP is one of the better players in this country, so I am glad to hear he is on the Watch List," Troy head coach Skylar Meade said. "He can play any position on the field, he is an elite bat-to-ball guy, and he has shown already in 2026 some newfound thump. We look forward to him continuing to lead from the front as we move along in the season."
Piasecki, a Central Michigan transfer, has been one of Troy's top offensive producers so far this season. The Muskegon, Mich., native is hitting .368 with a team-best 1.133 OPS, having drawn 10 walks and four HBPs to four strikeouts.
The Troy leadoff man has reached base safely in all but one game this season, and he's been on base multiple times in 8-of-11 games thus far. The left-handed hitter has totaled three doubles, two homers, and eight RBIs, and has started seven games at shortstop, two in right field, and two in centerfield.
Piasecki and the Trojans return to action at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Vanderbilt. Troy returns to Riddle-Pace Field this weekend for a three-game series with Maryland.
