Men’s Tennis Takes On Alabama A&M and Southern Miss

TROY, Ala. - Troy men's tennis prepares for two matches this weekend, first by finishing its match against Alabama A&M on Saturday afternoon, before battling Southern Miss on Sunday morning.
The Trojans are finishing their match with Alabama A&M after pausing singles play due to poor weather, leaving them with the 3-1 lead. Sunday's matchup will continue Sun Belt play for the Trojans, after starting the conference schedule with a win over Georgia State on March 14.
Troy (16-4) is coming off of an impressive set of matchups from the end of the week, defeating Mercer, 7-0, Jackson State, 4-0, Alcorn State, 7-0, and Mississippi Valley State, 5-0. Freshman Ausias Martin Melo went 4-0 on Court 1 throughout the end-of-week competitions. Sophomore Hiiro Sakamoto also had an impressive week by winning three singles matches, making his record 14-0 in singles this season.
Troy is now on a nine-match winning streak and is 9-0 at home. Both weekend matches are set to be at the Lunsford Tennis Complex over the weekend, with Saturday's matchup starting at 1 p.m. and Sunday's match starting at 10 a.m.
