Softball Set for Road Tests at Auburn

TROY, Ala. – After playing 14 straight games at home to start the season, the Troy softball team travels to Auburn to play at the Jane B. Moore Memorial Invitational. The Trojans (12-2) are set to take on Auburn, USC Upstate and No. 11 Virginia Tech.
Troy is coming off a successful weekend at the Trojan Invitational, including a 2-0 win over Omaha, which was ranked as the No. 1 Mid-Major by D1 Softball at the time. The Trojans are now No. 10 in the Softball America Mid-Major Power Rankings.
Following the weekend, Troy's offense is still ranked in the top 10 nationally in major categories. Troy is ranked second in stolen bases (50), third in batting average (.423), third in on-base percentage (.504), third in doubles (39) and eighth in slugging percentage (.673).

Trojan Invitational Recap
The Trojans went 3-1 at the weather-shortened Trojan Invitational to end home tournament season. Troy took two wins over Furman and beat Omaha.
Makaley Boswell shined at the dish, earning Sun Belt Player of the Week honors after going 11-for-16 with 10 RBIs, a home run, a triple and three doubles over the week. Ella Cunningham contributed from the circle and the plate over the weekend, throwing a no-hitter against Furman on Friday before homering in Troy's loss to Nicholls.
Freshman Abby Lovell lowered her season ERA to 0.27 after shutting down the Omaha offense, firing 13 strikeouts over seven scoreless innings. The Trojans ended Sunday with their 10th run-rule win of the season, taking down the Paladins again.
Opponent Previews
The Trojans take on Auburn on Thursday to start the invitational and face the Tigers again on Friday night. The Tigers sit at 13-4 overall, with ranked wins over Clemson and Oregon headlining their season thus far.
The Auburn offense is led by Haven Roebuck, who has crushed five homers and holds a 1.313 OPS. From the circle, SJ Geurin remains a familiar face for the Trojans after pitching against them twice last season – Troy scored four off her last March. Ella Harrison leads the staff with eight starts and a 2.08 ERA.
USC Upstate is 10-3 on the year, and the Spartans were picked second in the Big South preseason poll behind Radford, which Troy beat 2-1 earlier this season. Laney Jennings has hit four home runs for Upstate this season, and Maddie Drerup has thrown six complete games with a 2.98 ERA.
No. 11 Virginia Tech heads into the tournament sitting at 11-2 with four ranked SEC wins on the road already. The Hokies lineup is anchored by Nora Abromavage, who has five homers and 19 RBIs this season. Bree Carrico has been stellar in the circle, punching out 33 batters in 27.1 innings – she currently has a 0.77 ERA.
