Women’s Basketball Ventures to Face Marshall

TROY, Ala. – Two top teams in the Sun Belt Conference matchup on Wednesday, Jan. 28 at 5 p.m., when the Troy women's basketball team ventures to the Cam Henderson Center to face Marshall.
The Trojans (16-4, 7-2 SBC) have never lost to the Thundering Herd (17-5, 8-2 SBC) in the three meetings all-time, with one win at home, on the road and in a neutral site.

Split the Peach State
Troy split its Peach State series in Trojan Arena last week, falling to Georgia Southern and defeating Georgia State. In the two games, Zay Dyer dominated in her 31.9 minutes per game, averaging 19 points, 13 rebounds, 2.5 blocks and two steals. She also became the 14th active NCAA player and the ninth D-I player to reach 1,000 rebounds, officially having 1,000 points and rebounds. Overall, the Trojans outrebounded the Peach State teams 55.5-28.5 through both games.
With the victory over Georgia State on Saturday, head coach Chanda Rigby won her 499th career game and 271st at Troy. She is one win away from her 500th career victory and four away from passing Joyce Sorrell and becoming the winningest coach in Troy women's basketball history. At Troy, she's coached nine 20-plus win seasons with seven postseason victories, nine All-Sun Belt Team nods and three NCAA Tournament appearances. Her 166 Sun Belt wins also rank third in league history.
Since league play started, Troy's upped its rebounding from 50.8 to 54.6 boards per game. After their 63-rebound performance against Georgia State, the Trojans reclaimed the top spot nationally for rebounds. Troy's led the nation in rebounds in each of the last seven seasons. Marshall is bouncing back from last season's losing record by sitting tied for second in the SBC through 10 conference games. The Thundering Herd started conference play 6-0 before falling in two of their last four games. Since league play started, Marshall has improved its 3-point percentage, rising from 33.2 percent to 35.6 percent. In league play, Timaya Lewis-Eutsey and Olivia Olson nearly average 20 points a game at 19.9 and 19, respectively. They both shoot above 45 percent from the field at 46.1 and 53.3, respectively.
