Taylor Richards Earns Second Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week Honor

TROY, Ala. - Troy goalkeeper Taylor Richards earned her second Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week honor on Tuesday after picking up her fourth shutout of the season against James Madison over the weekend.Â
Richards was previously named the SBC's Defensive Player of the Week on September 16. She's the first player at Troy since Alissa Jones and Mikka Lewis in 2014 to win two Player of the Week awards in the same season.
Against the Dukes, Richards faced 21 shots in the scoreless draw, matching her career high with nine saves. The Auburn transfer's nine saves were the second most in a shutout by any goalkeeper in the Sun Belt this season.
On the season, the 5'9" junior leads the Sun Belt and ranks 19th nationally in save percentage (.868) while ranking second in the conference in goals against average (.700). Through four Sun Belt matches, Richards owns a .939 save percentage, which also leads the league.
Richards and the Trojans return to action on Thursday as they're set to face Old Dominion on the road in Norfolk, Va.
