Troy Heads to Auburn for In-State Matchup

TROY, Ala. – Troy volleyball will travel to Auburn for a match against the in-state Tigers on Wednesday, September 3. First serve is set for 6 p.m. with the action being streamed exclusively on SEC Network +.
Troy enters the match following opening weekend losses against Georgia and Samford. The Trojans fell in straight sets to Georgia on Saturday evening, before dropping a five-set thriller to host Samford on Sunday afternoon. Despite the 0-2 start, Troy has outperformed their opponents in several key categories, including kills, assists, and digs.

A Career Day
Several Trojans set new career highs in Sunday's loss to Samford. Senior Amiah Butler recorded a career-best 24 kills while also adding two assists to match her personal high. Sydney Austin set a new mark with two service aces, and Emma Blaine tied her career bests with four kills and four digs.
Instant Impact
Setter Madison Marx has wasted no time making her presence felt for the Cardinal and White. The freshman racked up 38 assists over the weekend, the most by a Trojan freshman in their first two matches since Amara Anderson opened her career with 56 in 2018.

Auburn went 2-1 over the weekend, earning wins over Morehead State and St. John's after dropping its opener in a sweep to No. 3 Louisville. The Tigers are led offensively by Lauren Dreves, who is averaging 4.70 kills per set on a .385 hitting percentage. As a team, Auburn is hitting .270 while limiting opponents to a .185 mark.

• Troy head coach Josh Lauer is in his ninth season at the helm, holding a career record of 120-115. He is the second-longest tenured Division I head coach in program history, trailing only Sonny Kirkpatrick, who guided the Trojans for 11 seasons (2006-16).• Troy's non-conference slate features five opponents that finished inside the top 100 of the final 2024 NCAA RPI rankings. In Sun Belt play, the Trojans will face four more programs that met that mark, highlighted by Arkansas State, which posted the highest RPI (45) among Troy's 2025 opponents.
• Amiah Butler had a standout performance in the loss to Samford on Sunday, recording 24 kills on .345 hitting. The 24 kills marked a new career high for Butler, who currently ranks second in the Sun Belt with 37. She trails only James Madison's Kennedy Louisell, who tallied 60 kills across 12 sets during the opening weekend.
• Troy will look to avenge last year's early-season loss to Auburn, when the Trojans fell in three sets. In that match, Amiah Butler and Olivia Kwiatkowski each recorded nine kills.
• Jordan Sinness makes her return to Auburn for the second straight year after spending three seasons (2021-23) with the Tigers. During her time at Auburn, she appeared in 29 matches and totaled 227 assists.
• Since joining the Division I ranks in 1993, Troy is 5-6 in its third game of the season when starting 0-2. Most recently, in 2023, the Trojans opened 0-6 before turning the year around to finish 12-4 in Sun Belt play.
