TROY, Ala. – The Troy women's basketball program adds two more to the 2025-26 roster via a transfer from Georgia Southwestern State, Detavia Salter, and the Alabama 6A Player of the Year, Saniya Jackson.
The pair of signees become the sixth and seventh newcomers to the roster, joining a trio of transfers in Aniya Hubbard, Shakirah Edwards and Rachel Leggett and two freshmen from the fall in Marianah Mapour and Lana Koricanac.
Detavia Salter | Forward / Center | 6-3 | Colquitt, Ga. (Georgia Southwestern State)
At 6-3, Salter attended Brainbridge High School, where she took the Bearcats to three Sweet Sixteen appearances as the No. 4-ranked blocker in Division AAAA with 3.1 per game. As a four-year varsity player, she led the Bearcats to a 56-42 record, peaking in her junior season with 12.6 points, 9.8 rebounds, a steal and 3.3 blocks before COVID. She continued her tear in her senior season with 11.4 points, 7.6 rebounds, 1.5 steals and three blocks as a member of the 4A All-Region First Team, All-State First Team and Defensive Player of the Year.
"Detavia brings a back-to-the-basket presence to our roster that is much needed," head coach Chanda Rigby said. "I have a clear vision for how I believe she will help our program, and I'm ready to get her on campus and start moving her towards that vision."
Salter joins the Trojans as her third destination after a season with Mercer in 2022-23 and Georgia Southwestern State in 2024-25. She appeared in five games at Mercer before starting in 16 and playing 26 last year with the Hurricanes. In those 26 games, she averaged 5.5 points on 54.8 percent from the field with 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks. The Colquitt, Ga., native erupted in the scoring column with four double-digit performances in a five-game span, with her career-high of 14 coming against USC Beaufort – she also had a career-high nine rebounds. Her blocking abilities were also displayed with 11 multi-block games, including back-to-back career-highs (5) at Georgia College and Clayton State.
Saniya Jackson | Guard | 5-8 | Montgomery, Ala. (Park Crossing High School)
The Alabama 6A Player of the Year comes to Troy after leading Park Crossing High School to its first-ever state championship over Chelsea, 49-39, with 21 points, 12 rebounds, five assists and two steals. The incoming freshman battled through illness to deliver the crown, visiting urgent care the day before the title matchup. In the final four round, Jackson also delivered a pair of clutch free throws with 0:35 on the clock to defeat Hazel Green.
"We are so proud to have the Alabama 6A Player of the Year join our Trojan family," Rigby said. "Saniya has led her team to accomplish many firsts, including Park Crossing High's first state championship. We know she will continue to do amazing things in a Troy uniform."
Jackson tallied 679 points, 214 rebounds, 203 assists and 179 steals to average 19.4, 6.1, 5.8 and 5.1, respectively, in her senior campaign to be named an Alabama-Mississippi All-Star, Alabama 6A Player of the Year and All-State First Team. In her four-year varsity tenure at Park Crossing, she tacked on 2,556 points to graduate as the 44th-ranked highest scorer nationally in a high school career. The 5-8 guard also collected 17 Player of the Game nods, including her 6A Final Four appearance with 30 points and 11 rebounds assists to be named the Final Four Most Valuable Player.
