HARRISONBURG, Va. – Troy completed day three of the Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Sentara Park. The Trojans scored in seven events and had five top three finishes, with the men finishing eighth and the women in ninth.
Tydreke Thomas won the men's 100m with a blazing time of 10.14 and led the 4x100 quartet of Evan Brown, Keylan Hicks and Michael Eady to a silver medal with a season's best time of 39.79.
Shanyah Washington secured third in a tight women's 100m final with a time of 11.31. Washington also anchored the women's 4x100 with Imari Johnson, Aaliyah Murphy and Kierra Montgomery to a season's best of 45.10 to place fifth. Murphy wrapped up her freshman campaign with a silver medal in the women's 400m hurdles with a time of 1:00.49.
The quartet of Kady Schwietz, Haley Wilson, Jasmine Jimenez and Murphy ran a season's best of 3:42.38 to take second in the women's 4x400 relay.

"I was happy with how we competed. We had some really great things happen. We scored in just about every event we thought we would. We came out of the weekend with a number of podium finishes. We had scorers outside of the top three that helped our overall score. We have three that should go on to the NCAA first round and a few more on the bubble. While I'm unhappy about the team score, we got better this week. We learned a lot about competing and making things happen, including the unexpected."
The NCAA East first round is set to begin on Wednesday, May 28, at North Florida in Jacksonville, Fla. For athletes to qualify, they must be ranked 48th or better in the East region in their respective event.
