Lewis entered the ballgame as a pinch-hitter for Gavin Schrader with two runners on, as Brooks Bryan had just followed a Jimmy Janicki HBP with a walk. The Red Wolves pulled righty Brett Foss for lefty Carson Keithly when the switch-hitting Lewis stepped to the plate, and Lewis hammered Keithly's second pitch 387 feet over the right-center wall to put the Trojans on top.
Troy had dug themselves into a 7-4 hole after five innings, as starter Noah Edders gave up four earned runs in 2.0 innings while Adam Falinski gave up three earned runs in 3.0 innings, all coming on a three-run homer by left fielder Jake Henry Williams in the fifth.
Troy flipped the script in the sixth with a hitless inning by Jacob Roettgen, while Bryan gave Troy some momentum with a solo home run on the first pitch of the seventh inning. Bryan watched the ball fly off his bat 455 feet over the scoreboard in right field, the longest home run by a Trojan this season.
Roettgen went on to pitch 2.2 hitless innings with one walk and a pair of strikeouts, while powerful right-hander Colby Frieda pitched the final 1.1 innings for the Trojans, earning his fourth save of the season and picking up a pair of strikeouts.
Blake Cavill was Troy's biggest producer early in the ballgame, delivering an RBI single in the first inning and launching a solo home run in the top of the third. The senior first baseman was on base five times, going 3-for-4 with two singles, a home run and a pair of walks. Janicki also delivered an RBI single in the first, while Schrader and Bryan executed a double steal with runners on the corners in the fifth.
Game three between Troy (37-15, 18-8 Sun Belt) and Arkansas State (23-26, 11-15) is slated for 1 p.m. at Tomlinson Stadium. The Trojans will send senior right-hander Luke Lyon out to the mound as they search for their first Sun Belt sweep, while the Red Wolves will start senior righty Jelle van der Lelie.

Quotables
Head coach Skylar Meade on the team's fight…
"It's been on full display. We've had to have it. Arkansas State and Coach [Mike] Silva have given us everything you can ask for. These games have been highly contested. Exciting baseball if you're just a fan. If you tune I'd imagine you wouldn't want to change the station - it's been pretty incredible what you're seeing. But what a moment for Shane. There's a lot of things that happen over the course of a game. A lot of things that go unheralded, but I think the story is Shane's pinch-hit, three run homer. What a big moment that he certainly deserves, and to do it in a spot when the team needed it most was just awesome."
Shane Lewis on his home run…
"Coach did a great job getting us the scouting report on that reliever that came in. The first pitch I saw wasn't one I knew I could do damage on, so I waited for the next pitch and I knew that if he gave me a good pitch I was going to put a good swing on it. Luckily, I got a hold of it."
