Troy Finishes Fourth at Old Corkscrew Invitational

ESTERO, Fla. – The Troy men's golf team finished in fourth place at the Old Corkscrew Invitational, which concluded play on Tuesday. Jake Springer and Pablo Gracia led the Trojans, finishing in a tie for 10^th place.

Troy entered the day in second place but fell two spots after shooting 12-over on the day. Springer and Gracia paced Troy, shooting 1-over in the final round, followed by a 3-over from Nick Fowlkes.

Gracia carded four birdies during his final trip through the course and Springer pushed his weekly total to 11 with three in the round; Springer's total was tied for the eighth most in the field for the tournament. The Trojans finished second in the field with 159 pars but finished middle of the pack with 43 birdies.

Florida Atlantic struggled on Tuesday, shooting 10-over, but held off Florida Gulf Coast by three shots to claim the team title, while Louisiana finished two shots in front of Troy for third.

Fowlkes finished two shots back of Springer and Gracia in a tie for 14^th place at 4-over for the week, followed by Lee Poppell in a tie for 19^th and Laurenz Kubin in a tie for 50^th place. The Trojans played without their No. 1 bag in Brantley Scott, who is ranked 28^th nationally after he was a late scratch due to illness. Jason Quinlan played as an individual for the Trojans and closed out the week in a tie for 54^th.

Troy closes out its regular season next week at the Mossy Oak Collegiate, hosted by Mississippi State at The Old Waverly Golf Club.
