TROY, Ala. – Troy hits the golf course for the final time before it plays for a Sun Belt Conference title next week as the Trojans travel to West Point, Miss., for the Old Waverly Collegiate Championship against a field that features five teams ranked inside the top 70. Teams play 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday.
Â
Troy enters the final week before conference play sitting at No. 53 in the national rankings, with collegiate golf experts setting the "magic number" for an at-large spot in the NCAA Regional field at No. 68.
Â
The Trojans are coming off a fourth-place finish at the Old Corkscrew Invitational after playing without the nation's No. 28th ranked golfer in Brantley Scott, who came down with an illness right before the tournament.Â
Â
Scott and Jake Springer are both under-par this season carrying cards of -0.33 and -0.04 vs. par into the final week of the regular season. Troy's lineup for the Old Waverly has combined for 40 rounds under par this year, with Springer's 11 and Nick Fowlkes' 10 leading the way.Â

About Old Waverly Golf Course
Since its founding in 1988, Old Waverly has been highly regarded as one of the truly unique private clubs in all of the United States. Developed on the site of the historic Waverly Mansion, the club is a result of the vision of the George and Marcia Bryan Family, who sought to create a world-class destination for golf and hospitality in the heart of the Mississippi Black Prairie.Â
Â
U.S. Open winner Jerry Pate and course designer Bob Cupp were enlisted to craft the golf course from the undeveloped nature of 360 acres of pasture. The golf course opened in September 1988 to rave reviews and has been a fixture among various "Best Of" lists, including recognition as the top residential golf course in Mississippi.
