Men’s Tennis Defeats Louisiana, 4-3

LAFAYETTE, La. – The Troy men's tennis team completed the weekend sweep on Sunday afternoon, as it defeated Louisiana 4-3 at the Cajun Courts.
Troy (17-7, 3-3 SBC) has won its last three matches after getting off to a slow start in conference play. Sunday was one of its toughest tests yet, but Troy found a way to win the nearly four-hour match.
The Trojans kicked things off with a pair of wins in doubles play to take the early 1-0 lead. Luciano Alcocer and Henrique de Brito recorded a 6-3 win in the No. 3 spot. Noah Martens and Nicolas Simkin locked up the first point with a 6-4 victory in the top spot. The Trojans are 14-1 this season when winning the doubles point.
Martens extended Troy's lead to 2-0 with a 6-2, 6-2 win in the No. 3 singles spot. Yeray Andres Pastor got Troy within one point of the match victory with a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 1. The Ragin' Cajuns weren't going down easy though, as they won the next three singles matches on courts 5, 6 and 4 to even things up at 3-3.
Simkin shut down the Louisiana comeback efforts, though, pulling out a 7-6, 6-7, 7-5 victory in the No. 2 spot.

Troy's regular season comes to a close this Saturday, April 12, as the Trojans host Georgia State at the Lunsford Tennis Complex. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
