No. 15 Troy Drops Series Finale to Texas State

TROY, Ala. - After taking the first two games, No. 15 Troy fell 14-3 in seven innings to Texas State in Sunday's series finale.
The game was tied 3-3 through four innings, but the Bobcats scored 11 runs in the top of the fifth as Troy used five different pitchers in the frame. The group of Adam Falinski, Dylan King, Drew Nelson, George Welch and Brock Tapper combined for five walks, two HBPs and three home runs in the inning as Texas State third baseman Chase Mora capped off the inning with a grand slam.
Senior right-hander Luke Lyon made his first start of the season for the Trojans, recording season highs in innings pitched (4.0) and strikeouts (6). Lyon struck out the side in the second inning and finished his outing with three hits, three runs, three earned runs and two walks.
Troy scored all three runs in the second inning, taking a 3-0 lead and knocking Texas State starter Shane Connell out of the ballgame. Shortstop Peyton Watts drove in a run on a single while third Jimmy Janicki doubled down the right field line to bring in two runs.
Troy moves to 31-13 on the season after taking the series from Texas State 2-1 and sits in third place in the Sun Belt standings at 14-7.
