TROY, Ala. – Troy women's basketball continues to prepare its 2025-26 roster by signing Rachel Leggett, sister of former Trojan Amber Leggett, from South Alabama, as its third transfer signee.
"Rachel joining our Trojan family is something to be excited about," head coach Chanda Rigby said. "The energy and determination she brings daily is a needle-mover for us. The relentless effort she plays with, coupled with her athleticism, will amplify every effort that Troy women's basketball makes to be national leaders in scoring, rebounding and winning."
After three seasons with SBC rival South Alabama, Leggett averaged nine points, 4.5 rebounds, 1.1 assists and a steal, shooting 51.3 percent from the field. Last season, the 5-8 guard peaked for the Jaguars with career-highs in points (13.1), rebounds (5.8), assists (1.5) and steals (1.5) and field goal percentage (54.1).
Her career-best performance came against Troy with 27 points on 13-of-15 shooting at the charity stripe – her season-high in 2023-24 was also against Troy with 26 points in Trojan Arena. The then-junior also claimed a pair of 20-point double-doubles. Her first came against Louisiana on 20 points and 11 rebounds, shooting 6-of-7 from the field and 8-of-11 at the line. Leggett followed it up with a 20-point, 10-rebound performance at Georgia State.
Leggett remained a force for double-doubles at the guard position as she ended with four in 2024-25 and six total in her USA career. The Navarre, Fla., native also notched 19 games with 5-plus rebounds and 21 games in double-figures for scoring – she scored 10-plus points in eight-straight games from Jan. 30 – Feb. 22, including back-to-back 20-point performances against ULM (22) and Georgia State (20).
