Troy Stays In-State with Crimson Tide Classic

TROY, Ala. – The Troy track & field program hits the road again but remains in-state as it prepares for the Crimson Tide Classic at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Stadium from Friday, April 11 to Saturday, April 12.
The women's hammer throw opens the meet at 10 a.m. with two flights of 10, continuing until Friday ends with the men's 5000m at 9:20 p.m. Saturday starts at 10:30 a.m. with the men's javelin throw and the jam-packed action rolls until 6:30 p.m. with the men's 4x400m relay.

The Trojans dominated their home meet with 24 winners at the Doc Anderson Invitational to win the meet. Shanyah Washington led Troy to earn the first female SBC Track Athlete of the Week award since 2019, with three first-place finishes in sprint events. She collected a personal record in the 200m at 23.72 before having the 17th-ranked time in the USTFCCCA in the 100m at 11.20. She rounded it out in the 4x100m with Jasmine Jimenez, Catherine Forbes and Aaliyah Murphy at 45.80.
Kady Schwietz also had a dominant run in the heptathlon, routing seven opponents as she won five of her seven events, including the 800m, 200m, long jump, 100m hurdles and high jump and finishing second in the shot put, and fifth for the javelin.
In the field events, Troy swept the shot-put events as Joy Edward took the title on the women's side at 14.09m while Altwayne Bedward (18.08m) threw a season's best to win for the men. Troy also swept the podium for the men's 800m, with Mario Tullis leading the way at 1:56.11, followed by Michael Marvin in second (1:56.61) and Jonas Koturenka in third (1:56.68).
