Troy Dominates the Southern Miss Invitational

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Troy wraps up two days of competition at the Southern Miss Invitational, where it finished the weekend with multiple personal bests and 24 top five finishes at the Southern Miss Track and Field Complex.
The Trojans completed the javelin, hammer throw and triple jump on day one. Morgan Reese took second place in the men's hammer with a mark of 55.23m. On the women's side, Abby Grosinske (49.64m) placed third and Joy Edward (47.96m) placed fifth.
Jordan Bailey leaped to a mark of 11.99m to grab third place in the women's triple jump. Whitney Clark (38.53m) ended day one for the Trojans with a fifth-place finish in the women's javelin.
The Trojans completed all running events along with discus and shot put on Saturday.
Abigail Carr started the day on the track for the Trojans with a third-place finish in the women's 3,000-meter with a time of 11:06.90, which is a personal best. Keith Warner (8:34.80) and Lane Watson (9:00.14) finished second and fourth in the men's 3,000.
Troy continued to dominate the throws on Saturday. Joy Edward won the women's shot put with a mark of 14.46m. Altwayne Bedward threw a season's best 17.93m to finish second overall in the men's shot put. Darius Sylvester (15.51m) finished fourth.
Aaliyah Murphy and Haley Wilson continue their strong freshman campaigns, with top five finishes in both the open 400-meter and the 400-meter hurdles. Murphy won the 400 hurdles with a season's best 1:02.24 and Wilson finished fourth in the 400 with a 57.05.
The Trojans are back in action next weekend at home from Friday, April 4th, to Saturday, April 5th, at the Doc Anderson Invitational.
