Troy Heads to Tampa for USF Alumni Invitational

TROY, Ala. – Red hot after taking silver on both sides in Mobile, Ala., the Troy track and field program continues its outdoor season in the Sunshine State from Friday to Saturday in the USF Alumni Invitational.
"We are excited for this meet," director of track & field / cross country Marc Davis said. "We know we have a great opportunity to have some great performances against great competition. To me, meets like this is the reason you do this sport. If we compete and don't think, we can and will do some great things."
The meet opens on Friday, March 21, with the javelin throw at 10 a.m. – ends at 8:15 p.m. with the 5000m men's race in the USF Track & Field Stadium. Saturday starts at 11 a.m. with the men's high jump before the meet ends at 4:45 p.m. in the 1600m relay.

The Trojans opened the 2025 outdoor track & field schedule with a pair of second-place finishes on the men's and women's sides, trailing only to the host team, South Alabama. Twelve times, the Trojans claimed gold, with nine coming in individual events and three via the relays.
Three first-place finishes came via the 400m events on the women's side as Xariyah Hatchett crossed the line at 1:02.21 in the women's 400m, followed by a 1:02.66 for Aaliyah Murphy in the 400m hurdles. The third win came when Jasmine Jimenez, Catherine Forbes, Shanyah Washington and Kady Schwietz joined forces for a time of 4:06.90 in the 4x400m relay.
Troy also swept the individual events for the 800m as Michael Marvin claimed victory on the men's side at 1:58.33 while Haley Wilson (2:19.06) won for the women. Altwayne Bedward and Joy Edward combined to sweep the shot-put event for Troy with a mark of 17.18m and 14.58m, respectively.
