Men’s Tennis Cruises to 6-1 Victory Against Alabama A&M

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team extended its winning streak to six matches on Friday afternoon, as it rolled to a 6-1 victory over Alabama A&M.
Troy (11-4) has been on a tear the last few weeks and Friday afternoon was a continuation of that, as it dropped just one individual match.
The Trojans kicked things off with a 6-0 win in the No. 2 doubles spot by Henrique de Brito and Yeray Andres Pastor. The duo remains perfect at 7-0 this spring. Troy clinched the important 1-0 lead thanks to a 6-3 win on court three from the pairing of Luciano Alcocer and Hiiro Sakamoto, who are now 11-4 this season.
Singles was also kind to Troy, who extended its lead to 2-0 thanks to a 6-0, 6-3 win from Alcocer in the No. 6 spot. Alcocer has won nine matches in a row and is 10-1 this spring.
Troy pushed the lead to 3-0 with a 6-1, 6-0 win from de Brito in the No. 5 spot. The team victory was clinched on court 4, as Sakamoto came away with a 6-3, 6-2 win. He leads Troy with a 12-1 singles record and has won his last 10 matches.
Even though Troy had won the team match, the remaining three singles matches were played out. Noah Martens won 6-4, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot to make it a 5-0 Troy lead. The Trojans final point of the match came courtesy of a 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7) in the No. 2 spot from Andres Pastor.
The Bulldogs lone win of the match came on court 1.
