Men’s Tennis Travels to UAB on Friday

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team is back in action on Friday afternoon, as it travels to the Hoover Met Tennis Center for a dual against UAB. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
Troy (7-4) is coming off a pair of wins over Alcorn State last Saturday and have won six of its last seven matches. Over that stretch, Troy has won 31 of 38 possible points.
The Trojans have been impressive in singles play this spring, putting together a combined record of 35-18. Leading the charge has been Hiiro Sakamoto and his team-best 8-1 record. Yeray Andres Pastor and Luciano Alcocer have also gotten off to strong starts this season, with both players sitting at 6-1.
In doubles, Troy has a 17-12 record. The pairing of Alcocer and Sakamoto have a team-high seven wins this spring, while Henrique de Brito and Pastor are undefeated at 4-0. The Trojans have won the doubles point in six of the last seven matches and have a 5-1 record when taking a 1-0 lead. Troy has been most successful in the third spot, where it is 8-3 this spring.
UAB is off to a 4-4 start and defeated North Alabama 4-3 last Sunday. Troy is 5-12 all time against the Blazers, but have won the last three matches including a 5-2 victory at home in 2022.
