TROY, Ala. – With 2025-26 underway, the Troy women's basketball program, under head coach Chanda Rigby, already has six signees for the 2026-27 season: Hannah Smith, Jamonica Chambers, Kiaya Davis, Kimora Hughes, Maliyah Meeks and Taliah Martin, the team announced on Early National Signing Day.
Three of Rigby's signees — Meeks, Smith and Chambers — are among Alabama's top high school players, competing in the 2025 AHSAA All-Star Game this past summer. Meeks also played on current freshman Saniya Jackson's Park Crossing High School team, winning the first state championship in school history for any sport.
Hannah Smith | Guard | 5-11 | Montgomery, Ala. (Montgomery Catholic High School)
Troy's first signee, Smith, comes to Troy as the Montgomery Catholic High School Most Valuable Player in all four seasons, bringing her team to a combined 65-27 record. That record, combined with Smith's stats, allowed her to lead the Knights to the Elite Eight. She was listed among the select players to score more than 2,000 points in her varsity career. In 121 games, she averaged 16.6 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.6 assists and 0.8 blocks, posting a double-double average from 2022-25.
Hanna attended several Troy basketball camps throughout her playing career, and we have known for several years that we wanted to sign her to become a Trojan, Rigby said. She is a guard with great size, skill and ability. She is a fierce competitor, and we will benefit greatly from having her in our program.
Jamonica Chambers | Center | 6-4 | Mobile, Ala. (Vigor High School)
Chambers has played three seasons with Vigor High School, winning one championship and leading the team to a Sweet 16 and Final Four appearance in the Class 5A state playoffs. Led by Chambers, the Wolves have a 62-36 record. In her sophomore season, she played in 31 games, averaging 13.4 points, 16.6 rebounds and 10.4 blocks. She followed that in 2024-25 with 13 games averaging 16.4 points, 9.6 rebounds and 5.1 blocks.
Jamonica adds instant paint presence to our roster, Rigby said. She has a strong frame with imposing size, but her shooting touch is soft and accurate. She is a special player, and we expect to see special things from her during her tenure at Troy.
Kiaya Davis | Guard | 5-9 | Irving, Texas (Connors State)
Davis transfers to Troy from Connors State, where she played one season at shooting guard. In her freshman campaign, she averaged 22.8 points, 7.7 rebounds and shot 50.9 percent from the field to be named JUCO Honorable Mention All-American, Region 2 Freshman of the Year and All-Region 2 First Team — her scoring numbers also topped the nation. In high school, she attended eStem East Village Junior High and Little Rock Central High School, where she earned all-state twice and all-conference three times.
Kiaya is an electric guard who can light up the scoreboard as well as impact our rebounding advantage, Rigby said. She averaged 22 points and seven rebounds in her freshman year of college (Connors State), and there is no ceiling on where those numbers can go as she continues to develop.
Kimora Hughes | Guard | 5-8 | Meridian, Miss (Meridian High School)
Hailing from Meridian, Miss., Hughes comes to Troy after leading the Wildcats to a 34-22 record. Hughes was named Best Offensive Player for her team in three straight seasons. In her high school career, the 5-8 guard averaged 10.4 points, 5.8 rebounds and two assists. So far in 2025-26, Hughes has averaged 13.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, two steals and 1.3 blocks through three games.
Though Kimora has many outstanding qualities as a basketball player, it is her athleticism that stands out the most, Rigby said. It's not every day that you see a 5'7 guard with the ability to jump up and touch the top of the rim. When I saw her do this, I knew we needed to pursue her to become a Trojan.
Maliyah Meeks | Forward | 6-2 | Montgomery, Ala. (Park Crossing High School)
A former teammate of current Trojan Saniya Jackson, Meeks led Park Crossing High School to its first state championship in any sport during her junior season. En route to the title, she recorded 15 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, joined the 1,000-point club and was named the Alabama North-South All-Star Most Valuable Player. Over the past two seasons, she has helped the Thunderbirds to a 64-3 record while earning spots on the Area All-Tournament Team, Region 6A All-Tournament Team and Alabama State All-Tournament Team.
Trojan fans are going to love watching Maliyah compete, Rigby said. She is a stat-stuffing true post player who impacts every moment of the game when she is on the court. She led her high school at Park Crossing (AL) to the school's first state championship, and I believe she will also have a championship-level impact here at Troy.
Taliah Martin | Forward | 6-1 | Irving, Texas (Collins College)
Martin joins the Trojans' 2026-27 roster after completing her sophomore season at Collins College, where she's currently averaging nine points, 4.8 rebounds and 0.8 blocks through five games. She came out of the gates strong with three straight double-figure scoring performances (10, 17 and 11 points). In her freshman season, Martin started 19 of 29 games, averaging 7.4 points on 47.4 percent shooting and 5.4 rebounds per game.
Taliah is one of the nation's most talented junior college post players, Rigby said. She is a running, leaping and scoring rim protector. She is a perfect Troy fit, and we are expecting her to make an immediate impact on our program.
