Troy Begins Six-Game Road Trip at Loyola Marymount

LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Following three consecutive wins to start the season, Troy men's basketball heads to Los Angeles to take on Loyola Marymount in a battle of unbeatens. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. CT inside Gersten Pavilion. Friday night marks the first of a six-game road trip for Troy, including four games in the state of California.
Troy (3-0) is coming off a 121-56 win over Pensacola Christian in its home opener. The Trojans shared the ball exceptionally well, racking up 31 assists as a team. Additionally, all 13 players who entered the game for Troy scored. Thomas Dowd led the team in scoring with 16 points, while freshman Javen Colbert broke out for 13 points, five assists, and five steals.
Friday night will mark the first-ever meeting between Troy and LMU (4-0).

Taking Care of Business
Troy played its first game of the season in Trojan Arena on Tuesday night, easily handling NCCAA school Pensacola Christian, 121-56. The Trojans never trailed and opened the game on a 20-0 run within the first six minutes of game time.
Thomas Dowd led the team in scoring with 16, while three Trojans - Javen Colbert, Emmanuel Clarton, and Evan Griffin scored their first career baskets in the Cardinal and White. Troy's 31 assists as a team was the most assists in a game since the Trojans also dished out 31 against Paul Quinn College on Nov. 14, 2007. Additionally, Troy's 121 points were its most points scored in a contest since 2016, when the Trojans scored 135 points in a in over Toccoa Falls.
Road Trippin'
Friday's game against LMU marks the start of a six-game road stretch for Troy. After playing four games in California against LMU, CSUN, San Diego State, and USC, the Trojans head to Ft. Myers, Fla., for the Thanksgiving week Coconut Hoops event. The Cardinal and White will take on Toledo, then either Belmont or Saint Francis. In all, Troy will spend 14 days on the road during the trip.
Scouting LMU
LMU enters Friday's game with a perfect 4-0 record. The Lions most recently defeated UTEP on Tuesday night, 71-58. Myron Amey Jr. leads LMU in scoring through the first four games, averaging 16.25 points, while Jalen Shelley has pulled in 8.5 rebounds per game.

Following Friday's game, Troy will turn its attention to Cal State Northridge. The Trojans and Matadors wil meet on Sunday night at 7 p.m. CT.
Notables
- Scott Cross is in his seventh season at the helm of the Trojans, amassing a 106-87 record during his time at Troy. Over the last four seasons, Troy has won 20-plus games each year and finished 23-11 last season.
- Troy begins its longest road stretch of the season Friday when it ventures to the state of California for four games. Following the week-long stay in the Golden State, the Trojans head straight to Ft. Myers, Fla., for the Coconut Hoops multi-team event.
- Troy and Loyola Marymount will meet for the first time on Friday night. The Trojans are coming off a 121-56 home-opening win against Pensacola Christian on Tuesday. For the first time since 2016, seven players scored in double-figures, led by Thomas Dowd with 16. Redshirt-freshman Austin Cross and true freshman Javen Colbert both impressed, scoring 13 points. Colbert also added five assists and five steals in his first game inside Trojan Arena.
- Troy is looking to start 4-0 for the first time since the 2022-23 season. The Trojans are aiming to start 3-0 in true road games for the first time in it's Division-I history. Troy began the 1987-88 season by winning it's first five away games, while it was still a Division-II institution.
- Sophomore guard Cooper Campbell took home the season's first Sun Belt Player of the Week award thanks to two stellar performances from the Puyallup, Wash. native. Campbell averaged 20 points, 5.5 assists, and 5.5 rebounds en route to wins over top mid-major programs in Kent State and Furman.
- Troy last played in the state of California on Dec. 5, 2022 against San Diego State. Although they fell short, the Trojans put up a fight against the Aztecs - ranked No. 22 at the time - leading 47-39 midway through the second half.
- The Trojans debuted a new look last week, as the team returns just under 40 percent of its scoring from last year's Sun Belt Championship team. Leading the returning group is junior forward Thomas Dowd, who was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team in October. Dowd started all but one game last season and will be called upon to take on an even larger role following the departures of the Trojans' two leading scorers from the 2024-25 squad — Tayton Conerway and Myles Rigsby.
