Women’s Basketball Invites Chattanooga to Trojan Arena

TROY, Ala. – In game three of a three-game homestand to open the 2025-26 season, the Troy women's basketball team faces a familiar nonconference foe from last year in Chattanooga, welcoming the Mocs to Trojan Arena on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at 6 p.m.
The Trojans (2-0) and Mocs (2-1) meet for the third time in a year after a pair of meetings in 2024-25, where the Trojans were victorious – Troy defeated Chattanooga in the second round of the WNIT run, 85-72. With a victory, the Trojans would start the season 3-0 for the first time since 2019-20, when they won the regular season title.

Flawless Start
The Trojans started the 2025-26 season 2-0 for the first time since 2022-23 with a 37-point win over Toledo, 88-51, and a 45-point win over Mississippi Valley State, 95-50. It's been pure domination as Troy is outshooting the opposition 43.8 to 29.2 percent from the field, outrebounding them by 10 and winning the turnover margin by 10 per game.
Fortuna Ngnawo led the way for the Trojans in the first two games to earn Sun Belt Player of the Week for the first time in her career. She averaged 19.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, four blocks, 1.5 assists and 1.5 steals in the victories. The senior forward also shot 60.9 percent from the floor and made her first and second career triples as a Trojan against Mississippi Valley State.
Against Mississippi Valley State, Troy flipped the script from game one, as the bench was more involved. Specifically, freshman guard Saniya Jackson erupted off the bench with 17 points in just 16 minutes, shooting 5-of-10 from the field and 5-of-6 at the charity stripe. Kamesha Moore and Shakirah Edwards also produced on the defensive end as Moore had a career-high five steals while Edwards had three blocks.
Scouting Chattanooga
Chattanooga is 2-1 to start the season, looking for its first win over Troy since Dec. 12, 2002. The Mocs have lost four straight to the Trojans, including a pair in 2024-25. Gianna Corbitt will look to end that streak as Corbitt had 20 points and seven rebounds in the WNIT matchup against Troy, and leads the Mocs with 14 points per game.
