TROY, Ala. - An 83rd-minute penalty kick by Georgia Southern was the equalizer in Troy's 1-1 draw against the Eagles at the Troy Soccer Complex on Sunday.
The Trojans held a 1-0 lead in the homestretch when Troy's Melanie Oldner was called for a penalty against Georgia Southern's Bri Conley while fighting for a loose ball at the top of the box. The Eagles capitalized on the Trojan penalty, with Addison Comer squaring the penalty kick into the right side of the goal.
It was the only goal that Troy goalkeeper Taylor Richards surrendered on the afternoon. The junior smashed her previous career high of nine saves with 14 stops as the Eagles outshot the Trojans 32-15 and 15-8 in shots on target.
Troy struck first on a free kick in the 58th minute, as Elsa Stedman delivered a strike from the left sideline into the box for freshman Isabella Hartofelis to head into the net. It was the first career goal for Hartofelis, who has logged every minute of every match this season, while Stedman picked up her second assist of the 2025 campaign.
The Trojans had one final opportunity in the 90th minute to break the tie, but Alaina Uncapher's shot as time expired missed on the right side of the net.

On Isabella Hartofelis' goal…
"It was a great free kick by Elsa. We've worked on that this season, hitting that area. Bella made a great run, timed it perfectly and didn't really have to do much - just let it hit her in the head. Overall, a great goal. A great set-piece goal."
On Hartofelis' performance as a freshman…
"She's come in. She's owned it. She came in early, and I think it's the fruits of the labor of coming in January. To some of the freshmen who want to enjoy their high school season, if you come in early, you can make yourself a starting spot, which is great to see.
