TROY, Ala. - The Troy soccer team returns to action on Sunday evening with a trip to Atlanta to face Georgia State.
The Trojans are coming off a 1-1 draw against Georgia Southern last Sunday, which saw freshman Isabella Hartofelis score her first career goal. The San Antonio, Texas native has been a warrior in the midfield for Troy, playing every minute of every game this season, and scored her first career goal on a beautiful free kick by Elsa Stedman.
Hartofelis was the fifth freshman to score a goal for the Trojans this year, adding to the production of the young Trojan core that has seen goals scored by Melanie Oldner, Megan Hamm, Hayden Barnett, and Kelsey Barrett.Â
Defensively, Troy goalkeeper Taylor Richards put on a clinic against the Eagles, recording 14 saves, which were the most by any Sun Belt goalkeeper since 2021. The lone goal that Richards allowed in the match came off a penalty kick in the 83rd minute.
Georgia State enters the weekend in second place in the Sun Belt East, with a 7-5-2 overall record and 3-2-1 in conference play. The Panthers own one of the Sun Belt's top offenses at 2.07 goals per game, and are led by junior Aaliyah Faddoul, who ranks seventh in the SBC in goals (5) and is tied for third in assists (5).Â
