Men’s Tennis Set to Compete in Fall Tournaments

TROY, Ala. – The Troy men's tennis team hits the road over the weekend to compete at the Mercer Gridiron Classic and the Auburn Battle on the Plains. The Trojans continue the fall season against a variety of regional opponents.
"We're excited to be playing this weekend, and it's one of the busiest weekends of the fall schedule," said head coach Rolando Vargas. "We're playing in two very competitive tournaments. We always get very good experience and matches at Mercer, and Auburn has a new tournament that's very similar to the spring season format."

When: Friday, Oct. 3 – Sunday, Oct. 5
Luciano Alcocer, Yeray Andres Pastor, Hiiro Sakamoto and Ausias Martin Melo will travel to Auburn, Ala., to represent Troy against competition including Clemson, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss and South Alabama.
The mini-dual draws will feature two Trojans squaring off against two players from another school to play a doubles match and two singles matches, with the team that wins two out of three moving on. Alcocer and Andres Pastor will compete against a duo from North Alabama, while Sakamoto and Martin Melo will take on Ole Miss.
The rest of the Trojans will travel to Macon, Ga., for the Mercer Gridiron Classic, where there will be multiple flights and consolation brackets. Louis Boilevin and Stephan Tavares Noale will be Troy's top players at the event.
