Troy Hosts ULM to Close Out Homestand

TROY, Ala. – Winners of its last three games, the Troy men's basketball team will close out its longest homestand of the season on Saturday afternoon as it welcomes ULM to Trojan Arena for a 3:33 p.m. tipoff.
In addition to the game, Troy Athletics is welcoming back a number of men's basketball letterwinners, celebrating Mike Amos Day and taking part in the Coaches vs. Cancer initiative.
Troy (14-7, 7-3 SBC) is coming off a tough and gritty performance against Georgia Southern on Thursday night that saw the Trojans come away with an 81-74 victory. ULM (6-17, 2-8 SBC) has won back-to-back games against South Alabama, including in Mobile on Thursday.

Things weren't always pretty on Thursday night, but good defense and timely scoring helped the Trojans erase double-digit first half deficit to come away with its 14th victory of the season. The comeback was spurred by big man Theo Seng, who had 11 points in the first 20 minutes to help Troy take a 41-40 lead into the break.
Tayton Conerway found his offensive rhythm in the second half and had 10 points in the final 20 minutes to help Troy come away with the win. He's now scored double-digit points in all 10 conference games this season and is fifth in the Sun Belt in conference scoring at 17.1 points.
The senior guard from Burleson, Texas, is leading the Sun Belt in steals (68) and steals per game (3.2). Both of those marks are also good for third in the country among Division I players.
Playing at home continues to be an area of strength for Troy under head coach Scott cross. Since he was hired in 2019, Troy is 58-24 when playing at Trojan Arena. In the last two seasons, the Trojans are 24-5 while playing in its friendly confines. Troy is 9-3 at home this season.
Thomas Dowd continues to pace Troy in the rebounding department, as his 6.1 rebounds per game leads Troy. He has six or more rebounds in each of the last 12 games. He also leads Troy in offensive rebounds this year with 43. The Trojans are 19th nationally and second in the SBC this season with 13.9 offensive rebounds per game.
Scouting ULM
While the Warhawks have been struggling for much of the season, they are in the midst of their best stretch of the year. ULM has taken down South Alabama in back-to-back games, including a 62-58 win on Thursday night.
Jalen Bolden is averaging a team-best 12.4 points per game, while Coltie Young (11.9) and Tyreese Watson (11.2) are also averaging in double-digits. Watson had a career-high 22 points against South Alabama to lead the Warhawks.
The Trojans lead the all-time series 17-11 and have won the last six matchups.

• Scott Cross is in his sixth season at the helm for Troy men's basketball, and his 18th as a Division I men's basketball head coach. While at Troy he has put together an 94-83 record, which includes three straight seasons of 20 or more wins. In each of those three seasons, he has also led the Trojans to 10 or more conference wins.
• Thanks for four players scoring in double-figures, Troy took down Georgia Southern 81-74 on Thursday night in Trojan Arena.
• Troy defeated in-state rival South Alabama on Saturday night in front of the third largest crowd in program history (5,041). It was Troy's fourth consecutive win over South Alabama at home.
• On Monday night the Trojans defeated Southern Miss 70-61 thanks to 17 point from Tayton Conerway and 15 points and nine rebounds from Thomas Dowd.
• Conerway has scored in double-digits in all nine conference games this year and has seven games of 15-plus points.
