Men’s Tennis Hosts Samford for Home Opener

TROY, Ala. – Following a long offseason, the Troy men's tennis team finally returns to the Lunsford Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon as it welcomes Samford for its home opener. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
Troy (0-2) opened its season with two matches against a pair of solid teams in the Sunshine State, as it fell to North Florida 4-3 last Saturday and Miami 4-1 on Monday morning.
Through its early season matches, the Trojans are 4-6 in singles play, with Yeray Andres Pastor and Hiiro Sakamoto each undefeated at 1-0. In doubles play, the pairing of Sakamoto and Luciano Alcocer are 2-0, and are responsible for all Troy's double wins so far this spring.
Thiago Drozdowski, a freshman who arrived just prior to the start of the spring season, saw his first collegiate action on Monday, but fell in the No. 3 singles spot 6-0, 6-2.
Last season, the Trojans were 12-1 at home, with its only loss coming against Louisiana.
Samford (0-1) is coming off a season-opening 7-0 loss to No. 11 Mississippi State on Sunday morning. Last season, the Bulldogs defeated Troy 4-3 in Birmingham.
