Men’s Tennis Drops Season Opener to North Florida

Jacksonville, Fla. – The Troy men's tennis team came up just short in its spring opener, falling to North Florida 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at the UNF Tennis Complex.
North Florida (1-0) opened the match by winning the singles point over Troy (0-1). Bruno Vietri and Gianluca Filoramo of North Florida defeated Henrique de Brito and Nicolas Simkin 6-4 on Court 1.
The Trojans responded strong, as Luciano Alcocer and Hiiro Sakamoto picked up a 6-4 win on Court 3 to push the doubles point to a deciding match on Court 2. North Florida came on top with a 6-4 win to take the early 1-0 advantage.
In singles, Sakamoto got Troy on the board with a 6-0, 6-3 win in the No. 5 spot over North Florida's Jean Deloziere. The Ospreys won the next three singles matches on Courts 1, 6 and 3 to take the team victory.
The remaining matches we're played out, as de Brito won 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) on Court 4 and Yeray Andres Pastor won 6-4, 5-7, 7-5 on Court 2.
The Trojans travel to Miami on Monday for a 9 a.m. match against the Hurricanes.
