Troy Soccer Looks to Continue Momentum at Southern

TROY, Ala. - The Troy soccer team is coming off back-to-back victories and will look to keep the momentum going on Sunday as they're set to take on Southern in Baton Rouge, La.
It's the second of three consecutive road matches for the Trojans. Troy traveled to Nicholls on Tuesday and came away with a 2-1 win and will close out non-conference play at Jacksonville on Thursday, September 12.
Troy's win over Nicholls featured the first career goals for Olivia Simpson and Sofia Sasan while Danielle Trovato recorded a career-high two assists in the match.
Kickoff on Sunday is scheduled for 1 p.m. CT and the game will be broadcast at JaguarSportsNetwork.com.

• Senior midfielder Delaney Wells leads the team with nine shots through four matches this season. She's recorded a shot in all but one match.
• Redshirt freshman defender Grace DeShetler recorded five shots in the win over Nicholls, the most by a Trojan this season.
• Sophomore defender/midfielder Danielle Trovato set a new career-high with two assists against Nicholls. She now has three assists on the season, matching her freshman season total last fall.
• Trovato also is tied for the Sun Belt lead with three assists this season. Her 0.60 assists per game lead the Conference.
• Freshman forward Sofia Sasan and senior defender Olivia Simpson each scored their first career goals in the win over Nicholls.
• Simpson has already set a career-high in single season shots through five games with seven shots on the year.
Scouting Southern
• Southern enters the match at 1-6-0 on the season. The Jaguars picked up their first victory of the season on Friday, notching a 1-0 win over Louisiana Christian (NAIA).
• The Jaguars are scoring 0.29 goals per game and are allowing 2.71 goals per game.
• Southern had three players – Gia Johnson, Tori Thomas and Sydney Bellamy – named to the Preseason All-SWAC First Team. Bellamy was named the Preseason Goalkeeper of the Year.
