TROY, Ala. - Troy soccer opened Sun Belt play on Thursday with a 1-0 loss to ULM at the Troy Soccer Complex.

The competitive matchup saw the Trojans outshoot the Warhawks 14-10, but ULM's Mara Grutkamp managed to find the net for the only goal of the game in the 18th minute.

The Trojans were led by redshirt junior captain Jiselle Daniels, who suited up in a Troy uniform for the first time after transferring from St. Joseph's and missing the beginning of the season with an injury. Daniels recorded four shots and two shots on goal, which both led the team.

Troy put the pressure on ULM in the second half with eight shots, but ran out of time as it began to hit its offensive stride.

Redshirt junior Jiselle Daniels made her Troy debut, leading the team in shots (4) and shots on goal (2).
Daniels' two shots on goal matched a career high. She recorded two shots on goal five times during her career at St. Joseph's.
Troy's 14 shots were its third-most in a match this season.

"I thought we lost to an individual piece of genius by No. 23 (Mara Grutkamp). Other than that, I thought in the second half we were the better team. I think we ran out of time. If you give us another five minutes, I think we can put one in." - head coach Stuart Gore.
