Men & Women Cross Country Claim Top Five Finishes to Open 2024

OXFORD, Ala. – The women's cross country program claimed a fourth-place finish on 113 points, while the men captured fifth with 134 points on Friday afternoon for the JSU Foothills Invitational.
Keith Warner picked up where he left off in his freshman season, leading the men's team for the sixth straight meet while hitting a personal best in the 5k with a time of 15:32.64. Fellow sophomore Caden Blackman wasn't far behind in the 17th position, timing at 15:45.02 – also set a personal best in the 5k.
Freshmen Riley Treadaway and Lane Watson debuted for the Trojans with top-50 finishes. Treadaway managed to keep his time under the 16-minute mark at 15:54.62 for 27th. 10 positions behind in 37th was Watson, who came across the stripe at 16:09.10.
In her Troy debut, Alexiana Hinote crossed the line with her first career top-10 finish. The freshman excelled in her start, timing at 3:32.30 through the first 1k. From there, she maintained to finish 10th at 18:54.63.
Nine seconds behind (19:03.51) her was Lucy Turley, who crossed in 14th, and freshman Arianna Elder followed in 15th (19:08.16). Reece Knowlton and Abigail Carr also managed top-50 finishes, finishing 35th(19:54.76) and 45th (20:27.16) respectively.
Troy awaits Friday, Sept. 13, to visit John Hunt Cross Country Running Park to compete in the Southern Showcase.
