Cross Country Travels for Georgia Tech XC Invitational

TROY, Ala. – After last Friday's Huntingdon 8k/6k was canceled due to the impact of Hurricane Helene, Troy travels Friday morning to its replacement meet in Fairburn, Ga., with the Georgia Tech XC Invitational.
The Trojans compete on Bouckaert Farm for their lone meet in the state of Georgia. The men kickstart the meet with an 8k at 8:30 a.m., followed by the women at 9:20 a.m. in the 6k – marks the first 6k event for the women of 2024.

Hurricane Helene
Hurricane Helene canceled what was Troy's chance of going back-to-back at the Huntingdon 8k/6k last Friday as weather made the conditions unplayable. Now, the Trojans compete in their first meet in three weeks and first out-of-state meet of 2024. Troy's last meet was on Sept. 13 with the Southern Showcase. While in Huntsville, Ala., Troy managed a 29th (women) and 25th (men) place finish.
Keith Warner led the men for a seventh straight meet with a 96th-place finish. He got through the first 1.6k at 14:37.00 to finish with a new personal best for the 8k event at 25:33.88. Five other Trojans on the men's side also claimed personal bests as Caden Blackman crossed the line at 26:39.96 (199th), followed by Riley Treadaway at 26:57.93 (227th), Patterson Graham at 27:00.61 (231st), Lane Watson at 27:09.55 (247th) and Bennett Phillips at 28:46.20 (340th).
In the 5k for the women, Alexiana Hinote continued her hot start by topping the charts for Troy for the second straight meet, finishing 168th at 18:57.12. Fellow newcomer Arianna Elder wasn't far behind as she crossed 0.6 seconds behind Hinote for 171st.
