Cross Country Excels at Georgia Tech XC Invitational

FAIRBURN, Ga. – Both cross country teams took to the Bouckeart Farm and collected top 10 finishes as the men topped the charts in sixth with 218 points while the women ended ninth at 240.
"I was really pleased with how we competed at the Georgia Tech meet," head coach Brian Cunningham said. "We got out quickly and did a good job of moving through the races. I feel like we turned a corner in racing and am excited as we head to FSU for our final regular season race next week."
For the first time in his Troy career, Lane Watson topped the charts on the men's side in his second 8k event. He improved his time at the Huntingdon 8k/6k by nearly five seconds to time at 27:04.85 and finish 42nd.
Patterson Graham (53rd), Riley Treadaway (56th) and Gavan Baxley (57th) competed for silver amongst the Trojans as they all finished within 11 seconds of each other. Baxley had the performance of his career, cutting nearly 1:30 off his previous best at 27:39.26. Caleb Locklin also earned a personal best (28:38.59) in the 8k with a 75th-place finish.
Domination continued to open Alexiana Hinote's tenure in her first-ever 6k event. The freshman scored a personal best on her second top-25 finish, coming across the stripe in 24th at 23:14.33. Three spots and only four seconds behind was Lucy Turley in 27th, who timed at 23:18.11 for a personal best.
Nearly every member of the women's team earned a personal best as Reece Knowlton (56th), Abigail Carr (78th), Abigail Brown (82nd) and Aisley McMeen (25:06.40) crossed at 24:20.61, 24:54.17, 25:00.67, 25:06.40, respectively. Overall, the women's team outlasted fellow SBC rival Georgia State by 105 points.
The Trojans end their regular season at the FSU XC Invitational at the Apalachee Regional Park on Oct. 11.
