Tremayne Cobb Jr. Named ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Finalist

TROY, Ala. - Troy shortstop Tremayne Cobb Jr., has been named a finalist for the ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Award, the American Baseball Coaches Association announced on Tuesday.Â
The award is given to the top defensive player in the country at each position. Virginia's Griff O'Ferrall and Illinois' Cal Hejza were also named finalists at shortstop. Â
Cobb, a senior from Upper Marlboro, Md., flashed the leather all season long, posting a .982 fielding percentage at one of the most demanding positions on the field. He made just four errors in 227 chances while helping turn 35 double plays. Â
The 6'1" shortstop ranked among the best in the nation in numerous defensive categories. He finished second among shortstops in defensive runs saved (14.97) and defensive wins above replacement (1.21). Â
Cobb was also a productive player at the plate, posting a .272/.415/.433 slash line with 16 doubles, six home runs and 48 walks to just 39 strikeouts in 59 games. Â
The 2024 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove Team will be announced on June 19. Â
