TROY, Ala. – Fresh off its first national ranking since 2013 and a second straight series victory over a ranked opponent, No. 21 Troy hosts No. 22 Alabama on Tuesday night at a sold-out Riddle-Pace Field. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. between the Trojans and Crimson Tide, and pregame festivities to dedicate the newly renovated stadium will begin at 5:35 p.m.
Troy (34-15) took the series from Louisiana this past weekend after the Cajuns entered play ranked No. 18 nationally. The Trojans run-ruled ULL in Friday's game and won 8-4 on Saturday before forcing extra-innings with a 6-run ninth in the series finale before the Cajuns escaped with a 1-run victory on Sunday.
Riddle-Pace Field underwent a $12 million renovation project immediately following the completion of the 2022 season that completely overhauled the seating area to the stadium, added two new premium areas, including the RBI Club, in addition to new coaches' offices, recruiting spaces and a grand rotunda entrance to the facility highlighting Troy's rich baseball history, including two National Championships.
Tuesday's matchup with the Crimson Tide (29-18) is a rematch from a 1-run Alabama victory earlier this year in Tuscaloosa in a back-and-forth affair where a 3-run Alabama seventh inning proved to be the difference.
Troy enters its final non-conference game of the year having won eight of its last nine games, including a sweep at No. 13 Coastal Carolina two weeks ago, which has helped propel the Trojans into the Top 25 in all five major polls this week; Troy's first national ranking since 2013.
Sophomore catcher Brooks Bryan is on the verge of history for the Trojans as he enters Tuesday's game against Alabama just one RBI behind Joey Denison on Troy's single-season RBI list. Bryan has driven in a nation-leading 80 runs this season, while the Trojans enter play this week fifth nationally in runs scored and on-base percentage while leading the country in base on balls and 16th in doubles.
