Troy Softball Secures No. 5 Seed for Sun Belt Tournament

TROY, Ala- Troy Softball secures the no. Five seed in the Sun Belt Conference tournament after a tough 53-game slate, where it will face the no. Four Coastal Carolina. Â
Troy comes off a 13-11 conference season where it won five of its conference series. This is the second year the head coach, Eric Newell, has produced a winning season. The Trojans posted a final regular season of 33-2.
Troy ranks second in the league with a fielding percentage of .971. Troy has turned 17 double plays, 1,480 catches, 1,075 putouts and 362 assists. The Trojans finished fourth offensively with a team .296 batting average, 1,417 hits, 297 runs, 420 hits, 54 doubles, eight triples, and 60 home runs.
Troy will look to bounce back in the conference tournament after dropping its last two series against South Alabama and no. 17 Louisiana.
