Four Trojans Named to Sun Belt All-Conference Teams

TROY, Ala. – After taking home podium placements at the Sun Belt Track and Field Outdoor Championships, four Trojans were named to the Sun Belt All-Conference Teams, the league office announced on Thursday afternoon.
Cole Stewart leads the group with a first-team selection for his showing in the men's javelin event. Morgan Reese and Javon Osbourne received third-team honors for their performances in the men's hammer and discus. Biniosa Ezukuse was also named to the third team for her finish in the women's shot put.
"All year long we talk about making a podium to be able to accomplish a high standard for the team," Director of Track and Field Marc Davis said. "These four did what they had to do to achieve those goals. I am proud of what they did and how they performed."
Stewart picked up his fourth first-place finish of the outdoor season last weekend at the SBC Championships with a personal best throw of 73.75m. That distance is ranked eighth in the NCAA East region, 20th nationally, and first in the Sun Belt. It's the second-farthest throw in program history and his second 70-plus meter throw this season after also achieving that mark at the Doc Anderson Invitational (70.08m).
Osbourne recorded a strong third-place result in the men's discus with a mark of 57.32m. He finished the outdoor season with five podium placements in the event.
Reese recorded the final all-conference honor as he placed third in the men's hammer event with a mark of 59.14m. He was just one of three athletes in the event to eclipse the 59m mark. This outdoor season he had three podium finishes and recorded his personal-best mark of 60.82m at the Tiger Track Classic.
Stewart, Osbourne and Reese all received all-conference honors last season.
The lone member of the women's team to record an all-conference honor was Ezukuse in the shot put. Her throw of 15.92m was good for the bronze medal. Ezukuse recorded four top-three finishes in the event this outdoor season.
Stewart, Osbourne and Ezukuse will continue their season next week at the NCAA East First Round on Wednesday, May 22, through Saturday, May 25, in Lexington, Ky.
