Troy Softball Falls to Georgia Tech in Midweek Tilt

ATLANTA, Ga. – Troy fell to Georgia Tech in a midweek tilt at the Shirley Clements Mewborn field on Wednesday evening.
Four Troy (26-13) players mashed home runs over the wall in tonight's matchup against Georgia Tech (24-14). Libby Baker, Jade Sinness, and Cassidy Boltz all recorded their eighth homer of the season, while Sarah Beth Brake mashed her third of the season.
Georgia Tech started with hot bats in the home half of the first inning with a solo home run from Mallorie Black and a three-run shot from Madison Dobbins, allowing the Yellow Jackets to plate four runs, 4-0.
Baker and Sinness answered back for the Trojans in the bottom of the second inning. Baker took a solo lap with her eighth home run of the season, 4-1. With a few walks and a single later, Sinness would plate four runs on a grand slam, giving Troy a 5-4 lead.
Georgia Tech would tie the game with a single from Black to score Gracie Hillman before back-to-back outs ended the inning.
Taylor McKinney and Baker drew walks to kick off the start of the third inning, with Boltz at the plate. Boltz took one for a ride to record her eighth home run of the year, extending the lead to 8-5.
The Yellow Jackets answered in the third and fifth frames, plating three runs to tie the game at 8-8.
Troy would score one more time from Brake's solo knock over the centerfield wall to push the Trojans ahead 9-8 in the top of the sixth inning. The Yellow Jackets would answer Brake's home run by plating six runs on three hits and three walks to make it 14-9.
Libby Baker (10-7) was tagged with the loss. She pitched to six batters, giving up two hits, three walks, and five earned runs. Alyssa Faircloth added to her resume with 3.2 innings, where she gave up five runs and punched out two batters.

- Libby Baker hit her eighth home run of the season, the 27 of her career.
- Jade Sinness her eighth home run of the season, the 33 of her career. This moves her to the sole possession of fifth in the all-time career home runs.
