Troy Outlasts Georgia State in Rain-Marred Game Two

The Panthers took a short-lived lead in the top of the third inning on a 3-run homer by Will Mize, his ninth of the season, after a pair of walks.
Troy answered in the fourth thanks to doubles from Peyton Watts, Kole Myers and Ethan Kavanagh after Ben Arnett got the inning started with a single; Myers had the big blow of a frame as his two-bagger plated a pair.
Myers led off the fifth with a walk and Aidan Gilroy cashed him in with Troy's fifth double of the game to extend Troy's lead to 5-3. Troy finished with nine extra-base hits in the game, tying game two against Kent State for the most this season by the Trojans.
Minutes before the weather delay, Tremayne Cobb Jr. broke open the scoring with his fourth home run of the season, a towering shot over the right field wall that had a 40.94-degree launch angle.
The Trojans added a pair of insurance runs in the seventh and eighth innings to make their sleep a little more restful before the game resumed Sunday afternoon. Watts cashed in a leadoff hit by pitch and a Kyle Mock double with a sac fly, and Myers followed with his third RBI of the game. Will Butcher led off the eighth with a single, and two pitches later, Brooks Bryan crushed his team-leading 13th home run of the season over the wall in right.
Following the resumption of play on Sunday, Georgia State added a pair of runs in the ninth to close the final score to the four-run margin.
Clete Hartzog (5-2) picked up the win for the Trojans after throwing four innings following the first delay; he allowed three runs on just two hits, with four strikeouts and two walks. Caleb White (0-3) took the loss for Georgia State after allowing three runs on five hits in two innings.
Six Trojans finished with multiple hits as Troy out-hit Georgia State, 15-6, in the game, while Myers (3) and Bryan (2) finished with multiple RBIs.
