TROY, Ala. – The Troy softball team is preparing to travel to Atlanta, Georgia for a midweek matchup against Georgia Tech at Shirley Clements Mewborn Field. For the first time in the last 15 days, the Trojans will be hitting the road.
Troy (26-12, 6-3 SBC) comes into this tilt off a successful homestand where the Trojans won two conference series and won four of their seven games. However, the Trojans also have a bad taste left in their mouth after Sunday's game with Southern Miss ended with a 10-1 loss after five innings.
Jade Sinness headlines the high-powered Troy offense with a .391 batting average and seven home runs from the leadoff spot. The senior outfielder has 76 total bases with 33 RBIs and 36 runs in the 2024 campaign.
Reliever Haley Pittman has been crucial in Troy's recent pitching success. The southpaw senior bolsters a 3.16 ERA and a 4-2 record over 18 appearances this season and has struck out 42 batters in 48.2 innings of work.
The Trojans are looking to turn the page and answer back against the struggling Yellow Jackets who enter this game after dropping four of their last six matchups. Georgia Tech (23-14, 9-6 ACC) was ranked as the No.25 team in the nation on Tuesday, March 12 but fell outside the top 25 after losing three straight series to unranked Notre Dame, North Carolina and Syracuse.
Infielder Mallorie Black has been the leader for the Georgia Tech offense. The senior is batting .357 on the season with 11 home runs, 11 doubles, 41 hits and 41 RBIs. Black has also started every single game for the Yellow Jackets this season.
Reliever Kinsey Norton headlines Georgia Tech's pitching rotation. The junior has appeared in 23 games this season but has only started in the circle five times. However, Norton bolsters a 5-2 record and leads her team with a 3.16 ERA.
