Cole Stewart Named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week

TROY, Ala. – After putting together the best javelin throw of his collegiate career, senior thrower Cole Stewart was named the Sun Belt Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday morning.
Stewart, a native of Auburn, Ala., took home first place in the Doc Anderson Invitational – hosted by Troy – in the javelin throw after a personal best throw of 70.08m. The mark cleared his previous best by nearly two meters. It's the second-best throw in program history and is just the second throw of 70 or more meters in program history.
"Cole continues his impressive year and is achieving great things," Director of Track and Field Marc Davis said. "We are very proud of him. He is a special kid, that works harder than most people know and doesn't let things get in the way of his goals. Congratulations on a well-deserved award."
Stewart continues to hold the top spot in the Sun Belt in the event, almost four meters clear of second place. The mark is also ranked 25th in the NCAA and 12th in the NCAA East Qualifying List.
It's the second Athlete of the Week honor for Troy this season after Tydreke Thomas was named Track Athlete of the Week on March 20.
The Trojans are back in action this Saturday for the Tiger Track Classic at the Hutsell-Rosen Track at Auburn.
